Whipp News: Mumbai Building Collapse

At least 21 people have died and 13 others are in hospital after a building collapsed in Mumbai following days of extreme rain.

200 police and fire personnel responded to the incident, but narrow streets surrounding the building made it difficult for heavy machinery to assist in the search and rescue.

Almost a month’s worth of rainfall fell in a single day, bringing the city to a halt and leaving thousands stranded. Over the last few weeks, more than 1,200 people have died across India, Bangladesh and Nepal in what people are calling the “worst floods to strike South Asia for years.”
